Windy Dryden currently works at Goldsmiths College where he is Professor of Psychotherapeutic Studies as well as being the programme co-ordinator of the M.Sc. in Rational-Emotive & Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and the Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

One of best authors for RET

I have not read this book, but since there are no reviews I thought it might help some readers to have some info on this author. I have read 10 Steps to Positive Living by Dryden, which contains the gist of his ideas on procrastination. He is (in my view) one of the the best (if not the best) writers on Rational Emotive Therapy. He places procrastination in the deeper context of low frustration tolerance. After all the stuff I've read about so-called fear of success and the like, this "take responsibility" approach of RET is refreshing. For the first time, you can directly address the crux of the issue. From that point, you can see each little instance in which you're tempted to procrastinate as an opportunity to stengthen your frustration tolerence gradually. I like this approach and plan to get this book. So I haven't read this book per se, but based on what I know of this author, I'm planning to buy a lot of his books. Thanks Dr. Dryden.

Extremely Useful

A gem of a book, Short, sharp and to the point. It really helped me to understand the reasons why I was procrastinating.
This book uses the basic principles of Rational Emotive Behaviour therapy, which was developed by Albert Ellis and is closely related to CBT. There is very little fluff in this book but it does contain many extremely helpful techniques and other practical advice.
It identifies common reasons why people procrastinate and also how to overcome these excuses and rationalisations. There are also some helpful time management suggestions.
It does require a little bit of work from the reader but everything is clearly explained and is fairly easy to do.
