Having finished the entire Rx for Love series I'm going to all series and singles by Cindy Kirk. I'm hooked on her work. From the beginning of reading the first of one reviewers comments about Kirk's books or that book in particular of being too Christian romance it's been hook.line.sinker for me. There's sex not explicit but the readers mind does wonder, there's mention of church, community, liquor, beer, country clubs, ranches, gated communities, small, medium, large towns, men cooking at home,. a great balance of everything making for great reading at more than reasonable prices. Even my wife enjoys reading these and discussing them with me, lots of what I read don't do it for her. I very highly recommend Cindy's books.

A Brilliant Collection of Essays

Gore was in rare form in the 80s, inspired by the Reagan Revolution and the rise of the Christian Right and their focus on Israel and the impending Armageddon.

His essays collected here, mostly from the New York Review of Books and the London Times literary supplement, range from devastatingly funny looks at Nixon and the Reagans, the rise of armageddon cultural politics, as well as simply brilliant essays on writing, Calvino, Dawn Powell, Paul Bowles and others.

Each one takes you immediately inside Vidal's head, and his voice becomes yours as you savor every witty and insightful observation. A national treasure.

Gore Vidal gives us superbly vitriolic portraits of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, as well as of the Christian Right's Armageddon: 'Why conserve anything, if Judgment Day is at hand.'

But he sees through the rhetoric and the hypocrisy the real America of humming electric chairs and well-packed prisons. A US controlled by an oligarchical system where men of property can do well and the others are on their own; where the New Rich made their money with defence contracts, the circulus vitiosus 'transfer money from the Treasury to the various defence contractors which in turn pay for the election of Congress and President'; where the Pentagon is a black hole for wasted money while the public educational system is deteriorating because of a lack of investment.

On the moral side, he remarks perspicuously that 'In order for a ruling class to rule, there must be arbitrary prohibitions. Of all prohibitions, sexual taboo is the most useful because sex involves everyone.'

But this book contains also some remarkable essays on world literature: Henry James ('monsters have triumphed yet again'); William Dean Howells ('a darkness sufficiently sable for even the most lost-and-found of literary generations'); Logan Pearsall Smith ('idiom before grammar'); Paul Bowles ('the strangeness and terror of waking dreams'); Tennesse Williams ('he certainly believed in sin'); Italo Calvino ('the many in the one'); Anthony Burgess ('3 obsessions: religion-art-sex').

Keep these MR. PRODUCT books coming! Love them!

This is a wonderful follow up to the first MEET MR. PRODUCT book! I love every page of this and the quality for the price is unbelievable! I appreciate good books and this is definitely one of them! The graphics are top notch and the information is wonderful too! I hope there is a MR. PRODUCT Volume 3! Also, pick up the NEW hardcover of MEET MR. PRODUCT! You won't be sorry...much improved! Warren Dotz and Masud Husain deserve kudos!

Must-have Eye-candy for Artists, Animators and Baby Boomers

Mr. Product Volume 2 takes an in-depth look at the advertising mascots from 1960 through 1985. Quisp, Charlie Tuna, Orange Bird, Kool-Aid Man, The Noid, Frankenberry, on and on… I love it!

An 80-page introduction discusses the trends that informed the creation of the characters - Beatniks, Super heroes and Secret Agents - and gives special attention to a variety of super-stars like Goofy Grape, Ronald McDonald and the Tootsie Pop Owl.

This is important stuff! Not only is the range of cartooning styles diverse and fascinating, but it’s just plain fun to thumb through the pages, recalling all these colorful creatures that have influenced our lives.

This book is put together with intelligence and flair. If you are a cartoonist, animator, art director, or just a pop culture junkie like me – these is a must have. Highly recommended!

TREASURE CHEST OF LOGO HISTORY

Get this book and Meet Mr product volume 1. also! IT'S PURE GOLD! You will love them! If ynu are a graphic artist like I am, these two volumes are unbelievable. These compact, 5and a half by 7 inch books are 1 inch thick and heavy. Hundreds of character logos in each individual book alone. If you grew-up in the 60's or 70's, it's like seeing hundreds of old friends and some that you never knew exsisted.

St. Vincent (NY) before embarking on a career as a radio sports and news reporter. Dark Wings

Based off the 1960's Mothmen sightings, Rust brings it up to date with introduction of lateral earths, likeable hero's and vial human eating creatures.... Good Sci Fi read, would recoomend reading. Wondering if there is a sequel coming.
