4 Super Sweet and Very Nice Stars

I have liked books that Harley McRide and Carson Mackenzie wrote individually, so I grabbed this one when I recognized the characters that were in another series I’ve read. It ended up being an okay read, but it didn’t wow me.

I loved the set up of the book. After doing well for themselves, the O’Malley brothers and Tony Roark (a good friend), decide to move back to their old Bronx neighborhood to clean it up. Things went off the rails a bit when it talked about the special ink that could be used to track bad guys that they were using in their tattoo guns, (I mean come on, they would put you under the jail for that if it was found out!) but I decided to put my blinders on and go with it.

I did like most of the characters, all very sweet and really, really nice but I just couldn’t get past how most of them seemed a bit dimwitted. Brooklyn was a textbook example of TSTL and she was so freaking naive and clueless I just wanted to shake her at times. She also very rarely showed she had a backbone, and when she did it was over something dumb. Tony and Fin were almost as bad. Sometimes it felt like I’d been dropped into a Keystone Cop show.

This is a m�nage book so there were definitely a few steamy scenes. Brooklyn was so clueless as to what Fin and Tony wanted from her I found myself having a hard time believing in the relationship once it got going.

What saved the book was the meddling mothers (they were hilarious) and the fact that I loved the idea of the characters and what they were trying to do. I also loved seeing the Ops Warriors when they made an appearance. I’m going to hope that this book suffered from a serious case of first-in-series-itis resulting in a just okay book and go ahead and read the next one.

I absolutely loved this book. Harley Mcride, can do no wrong. I LOVED how she in corporates characters from her other books! She absolutely has the best books!!!!!

Great book a little slow to start but you always need a back story yo make it move forward. Also liked that it involved the mc series op warriors.

Amazing author writes amazing story!!

This is an awesome story full of sadness, action and drama which starts at the beginning of the story until the very end. The story was well written to describe or display Valon (Luka) destructive and abusive childhood as the son of a mobster boss and a whore that been said "Man did this book do a number on me." This story is so heartbreaking to me I just can not get the mistreatment of Valon out of my head. He was given Elena for a pet and after their encounter he tries to keep all the bad things that happened to him from happening to her and I love that he never wavered from that even after Fatos tried to destroy their friendship in one of his jealous rage. Fatos on the other hand....I didn't care for him for most of the book. His insane need to be the best and important no matter the cost...I really did not like that. I have always enjoyed this author writing and bought all the other novel written due to her unique style of expressing story. Her story flowed beautifully and I once again(love the last book) found myself sitting down to read this book and looking up to find hours had gone by.The writing is rich and intelligent, and the characters are well developed without being overdone. I was in a state of suspense and excitement of what would happen next and anxious to turn the page and see how it is going to all work out. Then when the ending came I thought it was well played out and very enjoyable. KUDOS to the writer......Overall, a magnificent read and awaiting for the "Hidden Monster".

Saved this story for last

I finally got the courage to read Luka's past. It was a not an easy, happy read. I appreciate the man he became even after all the horrid things he went through. And Loki...you have to love a loyal pup and he saved him! Gotta love a man that protects animals!
Thank you London for writing this story! Have loved every book so far. These stories suck you in and leave you thinking about the characters long after you finish reading. I applaud writers that have the talent to execute this!

Luka/Valon is one of my favorite characters from the Volkov Bratva series and this novella, this look into his history, was both awesome and painful. Our lovable joker (a la Batman) had a rough start, but it makes me want to love him more. I can't wait for Hidden Monsters!!

The modifications, techniques and theories contained in this book give a good insight to modifying and improving rifles in general. Dr.�Ellis has >30 years of industry experience in line and senior management in many companies, including roles as project leader and champion of projects that resulted in 5 licensed vaccines which accrue ~$4B in annual sales.�He is the founding�and incumbent Editor-in-Chief of the MedLine-/PubMed-indexed journal Human Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics.

Narahari S. Pujar, PhD, MBA, is currently an Executive Director and Integrated Product Leader in the Vaccine Business Line at Merck & Co., Inc.� Dr. Pujar has contributed to a variety of vaccines and biologics products and product candidates. He is an active member of the American Chemical Society and was the past chair of the Division of Biochemical Technology.

About the Author

Laura Gurak�is Professor and Chair of the Department of Writing Studies at the University of Minnesota, where she teaches courses in technical and professional communication, digital literacies, and communication research. She received an M.S. in Technical Communication and Ph.D. in Communication and Rhetoric from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a recipient of the Society for Technical Communication’s Outstanding Article award. Prior to graduate school, Gurak worked as a technical writer for a number of companies; she continues to collaborate with workplace professionals through her department’s Industrial Affiliates Program. In addition to four textbooks, Gurak is author of two books from Yale University Press, co-editor of three edited collections, and author of many articles and commentaries.

John Lannon�is Professor Emeritus and former Director of Writing at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he developed the undergraduate major in professional writing and co-developed the M.A. program in professional writing. He holds a B.S., M.A. & Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received an NDEA Fellowship and a Fulbright Lectureship. He worked four years in biomedical science and technology with the U.S. Air Force, and an additional three years in medical laboratories. In addition to five textbooks in business communication, rhetoric, and technical communication, he is author or coauthor of book reviews, environmental publications, scripted training, and instructional software. He has served as a communications and training consultant in business, government, and education.

The growth of email and text messages, among other innovations, has made time management at work more of a challenge. Keeping up with all of this simultaneous communication can become counterproductive. Business coach Crenshaw (founder, Fresh Juice Strategy) addresses the myths about multitasking and argues that it can in fact cost valuable time to employees. Crenshaw frames his book in the form of a fictional case study: "Phil," a consultant, is about to meet with the manager of retail clothing chain "GreenGarb: Clothes Mother Nature Intended" about improving employees' time management skills. Crenshaw's point is that the notion of multitasking is a false construct that costs both time and money. In fact, employees are "switch tasking" (switching back and forth between two or more tasks). Crenshaw claims that "background tasking" (doing two or more tasks, with only one of them requiring mental effort) could be more efficient and effective. Currently, employees lose time owing to interruptions by coworkers, distractions from new technologies, lack of attention to colleagues when they are speaking, and juggling home and work. The author also provides exercises for employees to measure their efficiency and effective use of time. Bibliographic citations are included, but a glossary would have been helpful. Einstein was quoted as saying something like, "if you cannot explain it in simple terms, you do not know it well enough." I promise you Mr. Crenshaw knows his subject matter and explains it in story fashion and in simple yet so eloquently. My knowledge took a great leap with a short read.

Also, I highly advise this read for every manager and anyone like mean who is involved in process or performance improvement.

A quick, simple and worthwhile read

This is a simple little parable in the same vein as the One Minute Manager series. It is very quick and easy to read and has a couple of very practical activities. The thrust of the book is that while it is possible to switch between different tasks very quickly and give the illusion of multitasking, it is, in fact, a very inefficient strategy. What we are actually doing is switch tasking or background tasking.

No it is not a generational thing as our brain does not evolve that quickly and, sorry ladies, there is no evidence, other than urban myth anecdotal evidence, that women can multitask and men cannot. To do two things at once is to do both things poorly.

Short - Effective - Read that will blow your mind!

I always thought being a multi-tasker was something to be PROUD of - after reading this book - I'm ashamed of thinking that way - and now try to devote myself fully to the task at hand and not be distracted. I'm also fully aware of others who do this to me - and I find it irritating to say the least!!!
